Bio:

Name: Miranda Keller
Nickname: Mandy
Date of Birth: May 4th, 1990
Age: 17
Race/Species: Gifted human, healer
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Physical description: Mandy is a petite girl, though not exactly tiny. She is short, standing only at 5'3", and her frame is small but she isn't overly skinny. Her figure has been decribed as "boyish", since she doesn't have many curves to speak of. Her hair is dark and rich, easy to style though he hardly ever bothers. Mandy's honey brown eyes are usually looking around at the world around her, clearly less than impressed with what she's finding.
PB: Ellen Page

Personality: Mandy is very smart, and because of that gets very bored with the simple world around her and therefore critical of her life. She spends a lot of time reading, usually nonfiction works and medical texts (she's hoping to be a doctor someday. Or a vet, if her views on humanity don't improve with age.). Although kind of surly and jaded, as most teenagers are, Mandy has a sick sense of humor and can find something to be amused by even in the most morose of circumstances. She has a dry wit, and doesn't get overly excited about anything. She will be the first person to call you out on your bullshit and isn't afraid to go against popular opinion. In fact, she often does it just to be spiteful.

Background: Mandy was raised by her mom, Kimmy Keller, in the heart of downtown Seattle. The two of them were like night and day- Kimmy was a bubbly barista at Starbucks, while Mandy, even as a young girl, would sit in the window seat while her mom worked and purposely ignore everyone who tried to make conversation. She wasn't a difficult child, but the entire atmosphere of the place annoyed her to no end. Oddly enough, she related more to the men in business suits just getting their morning caffeine fix than to the artist types who sat around and talked about books and movies. Kimmy tried to understand her daughter, but the two of them just had different desires from life. Kimmy had always been popular in school, did fairly well with academics but thought that the high school experience was much more important. But Mandy didn't make any long lasting friends, and preferred to do homework rather than attend social functions. Kimmy sometimes thought that her daughter was just being difficult because she was a teenager. Even when her fourteen year old told her that she was a lesbian, Kimmy assumed it was just Mandy's attempt to get her mother to stop harassing her about never having a boyfriend.

Growing up, Mandy never understood why she was such a contrast from her mother, and Kimmy refused to tell her daughter anything about her father, except that he was "a deadbeat and a mistake". So being a precocious thirteen year old, Mandy began her investigation to find out more about her dad. After a few weeks she managed to crack the code of her mom's portable safe, and inside found a load of extremely important but painfully boring paperwork. Life insurance policies, car insurance paperwork, social security cards, bank staements and receipts... and Mandy's birth certificate. Mandy packed up the safe and locked it, throwing the pile of clothing and shoes back on top to hide it like her mother had done. She had taken out her birth certificate, though, and hid it in her underwear drawer until long after Kimmy had gone to bed. Mandy didn't want to read who her father was until her mother was asleep, just in case it was someone famous or someone they knew and then Mandy wouldn't be able to look her mom in the eye right afterward. She wanted to be able to react, then think it over, then approach her mom. But the name she read was completely unfamiliar- Wesley MacIntyre. None of her mom's friends, none of their neighbors. She would have remembered a guy with a name like Wesley.

Mandy made a photocopy of her birth certificate at the library and carried it with her, folded up in her wallet (yes, she has a men's wallet). She had to keep her investogation of her dad a secret, since she knew her mom wouldn't understand why she wanted to know him so badly, and would probably even be hurt that Mandy felt a need to find her father, as if somehow that meant her mother wasn't enough for her. But it wasn't that at all- Mandy just needed to know where her personality came from, as well as a few other tricks her mom did not seem to possess. Mandy had always had a knack for fixing things, taking them apart to see how they worked and putting them back together. This worked for the television remote, her calculator, her broken VCR and, apparently, a four year old girl who'd fallen off the jungle gym on the playground. While writing one of her many short stories under a huge oak tree at the park, Mandy saw a little unsupervised girl take a dive headfirst into the sand. Mandy rushed over, brushing the dirt off the girl and checking her over for injuries. She had read enough medical books from the library to know what to look for- concussion, bleeding, broken limbs. The girl had a snapped wrist no doubt, a clean break of her ulna. Mandy held the bone firmly, tryig to think of what was available to make a brace when her hand started burning. It wasn't a bad burning, but a strange one. She stared at her hand, watching the little girl's wrist shift and pop back uinto place, and it wa almost as if, in her mind, Mandy could see the bones stitching themselves back together. By the time the girl's idiot mother came over, the wrist was fine and even the cuts the girl had gotten were gone. Mandy nodded to the thanks she received, numb. If her mother had been able to do something like that, to fix people just by touching them... she would have said something. Kimmy would have not needed to take Mandy to the hospital when she took a dive off her bike and cracked her skull. After doing considerable research, Mandy discovered that she was a healer, a rare type of gifted human that would literally lay hands on someone and heal them. her first question, of course, was if Jesus had been a healer and people were too ignorant back then to know what he was. Second question being if this was something she had gotten from her father. But she'd never know until she found him, so she doubled her efforts. Wesley MacIntyre had a long list following him- a job in a New York as a nurse in a clinic, a small jail stint (drug possession and robbery), a divorce, a car accident. (It is amazing what you can find on the internet with enough patience and a lot of time.) It didn't say anything about any special powers or anything, though he had been a nurse so that was promising. Eventually his name came up in assosciation with a detention facility in Danvers, MA. After researching that (thinking he might be in jail again) Mandy discovered that it was actually a cleverly disguised school, where people went to learn to handle their supernatural abilities. Well, being able to heal someone with their hands was as supernatural as you could get, and it was a very strong lead to where her father was. So mandy told her mother about her healing ability, about the school where she could learn general education as well as how to make the most of her powers, and after months and months of begging, Kimmy agreed.

Abilities: Can heal basic maladies by laying her hands on someone, but only if she has learned about their causes and how they heal
Weaknesses: Suseptible to all human diseases and injuries
